Three-Phase Applications

Toroidal transformers for three-phase applications are simply three individual single-phase transformers connected together. The advantage of using toroidal transformers is that the three transformers do not need to be located next to each other and therefore offer design flexibility and weight distribution inside your cabinet. The individual transformers can be mounted vertically using an "L"-bracket or horizontally if a low profile is desired. You can choose either Y or Delta configuration. Large three-phase transformers sometimes utilize three toroids stacked vertically in a cylindrical enclosure for improved cooling due to the "chimney" effect.
